Manse Pride Week is a celebration of diversity and equality, honouring people who belong to sexual and gender minorities.
The City of Tampere, committed to human rights and equality, is supporting the organisation of Manse Pride Week in many ways. Libraries, museums, youth and cultural venues, as well as parks, will host a range of Pride-themed events open to everyone. The diverse programme for Pride Week can be explored in the Tampere events calendar.
– Everyone is welcome to attend the City’s Pride Week events, regardless of whether they themselves belong to the LGBTQ+ community. Safer space principles are followed at all events, says Programme Manager Jaakko Laurila from the Tampere for All development programme.
Tram, flag display and scarves for the statues of Hämeensilta
– Tampere is a city for everyone, where each person has the right to be themselves. The visible presence of Pride Week across the city sends an important message as we work to build a fair, equal and open Tampere. Highlighting the human rights of minorities does not diminish anyone else’s rights; rather, it makes the city a better place for all. It is wonderful to see the celebration reflected in so many ways across the city, says Mayor Ilmari Nurminen.
The colours of the Tampere Pride flag will brighten the city centre throughout Manse Pride Week.
Pride flags will be flown on the city’s flagpoles, and colourful flag displays will be set up along Hatanpään valtatie and Vuolteenkatu hill. The statues on Hämeensilta bridge will also be adorned with Pride scarves for the duration of the week. Those out late in the city can also enjoy the Tammerkoski rapids illuminated in rainbow colours.
One of the most striking new features this year is the Pride-themed tram, which will enter service during Manse Pride Week.
– The Pride tram will be delighting us until the end of 2026. It is part of Tampere’s tram decoration programme for this year, which the City Council decided to implement back in late 2024, says Director of City Brand and Marketing Iina Ojala.
City leaders to take part in the parade and park party
Manse Pride Week will culminate with a parade and a park celebration in Sorsapuisto on Saturday, June 13.
Participants in the Pride parade will gather at Keskustori from 12:30 onwards. Before the parade begins, participants will be given small Tampere Pride flags.
Mayor Ilmari Nurminen will address the Pride crowd from the balcony of Raatihuone from approximately 13:15. The speech will conclude with the Declaration of Pride Peace for Tampere.
The Manse Pride parade will set off from Keskustori at 14:00, proceeding along Hämeenkatu towards Sorsapuisto. Leading the parade will be the event organiser, Sinuiksi ry, together with its representatives. Walking alongside them, at the organiser’s invitation, will be city representatives including Mayor Ilmari Nurminen, Deputy Mayors Anne-Mari Jussila, Ilkka Porttikivi and Johanna Kirjavainen, as well as Vice Chairs of the City Council Julia Sangervo and Minna Minkkinen.
Following the main organiser, the parade will continue with groups formed by various organisations, including Tampere Youth Services showing their support for young people. After these groups, the parade opens to everyone in an inclusive section led by the City of Tampere, the event’s main partner, carrying the message of "Tampere for All".
The Manse Pride Week park party will take place at Sorsapuisto, where the programme will begin upon the parade’s arrival. In addition to speeches, the event will feature music and cultural performances. There will also be a City of Tampere information stand, a mobile library, and a relaxation space for young people run by Youth Services. The park party will end at 18:00.
Manse Pride Week is organised by Sinuiksi ry, with the City of Tampere as the main partner.
