Art school students conducted experiments with natural colors in spring 2023, resulting in colorful artworks.

Sara Hildén Academy Art School Open House on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM includes a lesson where children and young people can try out art school activities. Art teachers will be present to guide the activities. Participants can also explore the teaching facilities.

The open house is free of charge, but you must register in advance by May 18, 2025. The open house will be held at the Sara Hildén Academy premises in Koivistonkylä.

– You can participate in the session together with a parent so that they can inquire about activities and studies at Sara Hildén Academy in general. Actual studies at the visual art school take place without a parent, explains Heidi Saramäki, assistant principal responsible for basic education in the arts.

Basic education in the arts provides students with the ability to express themselves visually and develop imagination, a sense of nuances, and helps to see the many possible solutions to problems creatively.

Through play, experimentation, and diverse work, the student's visual observation skills, thinking, expression, and interpretation skills develop.

– The goal of studying is to create a long-term hobby, which provides a good foundation for professional studies in visual arts. The studies also support the growth of the child and young person, the development of self-awareness, and cultural competence, Saramäki states.

Applications for basic education in the arts at the Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region are open until May 31, 2025. Children and young people can apply for basic education in visual arts, as well as basic education in literary arts and theater arts.
