Anti-Racism Week fills the city with a diverse cultural program
Anti-Racism Week will feature a diverse cultural program in Tampere from March 17–22, 2026. The events will celebrate the city’s cultural and linguistic diversity through everything from photography exhibitions and guest concerts to workshops and springtime family events.
During Anti-Racism Week, Public Cultural Services is organising several events that celebrate Tampere’s cultural and linguistic diversity. “The city is home to creative professionals from many different backgrounds, and during this campaign week we particularly want to highlight their work. Another key message is that cultural services are intended for every resident of Tampere, regardless of background or personal characteristics,” says coordinator Emma Peura.
The week opens with the photo exhibition More Different Than Similar in the Lobby Gallery at Culture House Laikku. The exhibition showcases South Hervanta’s street artists and the stories behind their works from 17–29 March. Children’s culture will be on offer at the Children’s Culture Centre Rulla from Wednesday to Sunday, featuring fairy tales and musical instruments from different countries, art workshops, and non-verbal theatre.
On Wednesday 18 March, we travel from Tesoma to Naples as the Neapolitan duo Ilaria & Tuomas take listeners on a captivating musical journey, performing well-known Neapolitan songs and sharing the stories behind them. Ivan Maniraho, known for his book Why the Sun, will be the guest author at Sampola Library on Wednesday. On Thursday 19 March, the Art Walk in South Hervanta invites participants to explore the electrical cabinet artworks painted in October 2025.
On Friday 20 March, we celebrate the arrival of spring as the Haihara Spring Carnival fills Haihara Manor with a diverse and colourful programme. The day includes music and dance performances, a Filipino café, henna tattoos, and fun activities for children provided by Reissu-Rulla. On Saturday 21 March, Culture House Laikku comes alive with spring energy for the Spring Bazaar, featuring a pop-up art and craft market offering unique artworks, home decor and jewellery. The extensive programme also includes theatre, music, and the opening of a photography exhibition.
