Basic education in the arts at the adult education centre
Numerous studies confirm the significance of art as part of human well-being. Experiencing art is personal, as is creating it. Art is about seeking the new and interpreting reality in fresh ways. It’s about discovering oneself, having the courage to be authentic, and fulfilling the innate need to create.
People need experiences to feel that their lives are meaningful, and art offers an excellent opportunity for that. Studying art is joy, wonder, action, curiosity, and success!
Basic education in the arts is long-term, takes place during leisure time, and progresses from one level to another across different art disciplines. The teaching supports students in self-directed artistic creation and personal interpretation.
At the adult education centre, basic art education is offered in visual arts, craft arts, literary arts, and theatre arts. Groups meet approximately once a week, studying creatively in various environments and using diverse methods. During the studies, performances and exhibitions are also organized.
The studies are based on the Act on Basic Education in Arts (633/1998).
