In the summer, the area’s delicious refreshments and art are provided by Coffee Chamber. Runeberg’s cottage, managed by Interi ry, is filled with wonderful handicrafts and changing exhibitions in an atmospheric setting.

Theater has a long tradition in the area, as the traditional Haihara Puppet Theater was established in 1969 in the former Kanala, and Theater Lysti brings diverse performances to the outdoor stage located behind the Makasiini.

Runeberg’s cottage was originally built on the Ylinen estate. It got its name from the national poet, who lived in the cottage with his wife Fredrika during the summer of 1834. After the establishment of the Haihara Puppet Museum, the building was moved to its current location as part of the art center.

During the summer and before Christmas, the cottage houses the art and craft shop of the Tampere Art and Craft Association Interi ry. Products from local artisans are sold, and art exhibitions are also displayed.

Coffee Chamber is located in Väentupa, built in 1811. During the summer, the café has outdoor terrace seating where you can enjoy the sunshine and fresh air with pastries or ice cream. The offerings at Coffee Chamber are mainly homemade sweet and savoury pastries. Gluten-free products are also available. You can enjoy beer, wine, or other refreshments with your food.

Coffee Chamber can also host small-scale celebrations (max. 20 people), for which you can order coffee service or meals (soup or salad). Inquiries via email: [email protected]
