Presentation of Tesoma daycare centre

Our daycare centre has 150 places for children aged 0-5 years. The three colour-coded home areas are home to seven early childhood education and care groups:

  • Keltainen 1 & 2 (sibling group for ages two through five and integrated group)
  • Vihreä 1 & 2 (Montessori groups)
  • Sininen 1 & 2 (evening-time and weekend groups, open as needed Mon-Sun 5.30 am to 10.30 pm)
  • Sininen 3 (group for children aged under three)

There are three pre-primary education groups located at the Tesoma school premises, one of which is a Montessori group, another an integrated pre-primary education group. Eeva-Riitta Järvinen is the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, tel. 050 537 4695.

The Tesoma open early childhood education and care collaborates with other local service providers at the Wellbeing centre and at Kalkunvuori.

Picking up and dropping off your child

  • When dropping off a child, the adult must make sure daycare staff are there to receive the child.
  • When picking up a child, the adult should make the daycare staff aware the child is about to go.
  • If the person conducting the pick-up is someone other than the guardian, the guardian should inform the daycare centre beforehand in writing (e.g. by text message), unless he or she has been notified as an alternate applicant in the eVaka.

What items should the child have for daycare?

  • Changes of clothes in case of e.g. dirtying or soaking, group personnel will arrange for a place to store them
  • All-weather outdoor clothes, maintained by the parents; for example, in the wet season rainwear should be taken home for washing every Friday
  • Appropriate nappies (tape diapers rather than trainer pants)
  • A sleeping buddy that may also be stored at the daycare centre in the bed / closet
  • Soft indoor shoes / slippers
  • All clothes should facilitate the child’s practice in getting dressed and undressed by themself (i.e. not overly tight, no difficult-to-operate buttons or other attachment points). Write the name of your child on all clothing items and equipment. This is especially important in the case of footwear and gloves.

Communication between the daycare group and guardians

  • The groups will post information about general affairs and the group’s activities on the walls.
  • The eVaka online service also plays a part in communication.
  • Personal conversation between guardians and staff during drop-offs and pick-ups also helps in keeping in touch.
  • A discussion on the child’s early childhood education plan will be held at least once in a year.
  • Communication by text message, telephone, and e-mail may also be employed.

Notifying of a child’s presence or absence

  • The care hours for each child will be agreed when the care agreement is concluded. The guardian will book the specific times for care using the eVaka online service by 23.59 on Monday of the previous week. Any changes will be agreed on separately.
  • Absences are reported via eVaka. It is important to know whether the child is ill or otherwise absent.
  • When a child falls ill, this should be reported by phone call or text-message. In the event of continued illness, the continued absence may be communicated by text message.
  • When a child falls ill, it benefits the daycare centre to know what kind of illness is in question so the necessary measures in the group rooms can be taken.
  • After illness, a child should, as a rule, remain away from daycare for one day after symptoms have subsided (in case of a stomach flu, two days).

Welcome to Tesoma daycare centre!
