Funding for training programme for immigrant women awarded to The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region

The Finnish National Agency for Education has awarded The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region €125,000 in funding for a training programme aimed at strengthening immigrant women’s readiness to find employment and participate in Finnish society. The Keys to Everyday Life training programme will be launched in response to the growing need for Finnish language and everyday skills education.

The training groups of the Arjen avaimet project will be held primarily at Sampola, with the first group starting in October.

The training provided within the Keys to Everyday Life (Arjen avaimet) project is targeted especially at immigrant women who are outside the labour market, employed but lacking sufficient language skills, or who have exceeded their official integration period. The target group also includes spouses of employees and students who have moved to Finland.

During the project, six training groups will be organised, reaching nearly 100 participants in total and responding to the growing demand for immigrant education in Tampere.

The training programme consists of four modules: Finnish as a second language, Finnish society and job seeking, digital skills and personal finance management, and crafts and creativity. The programme has a scope of 9 ECTS credits.

The training also includes individual guidance and a personal study plan, enabling participants to progress based on their own starting points. In addition, the programme emphasises sustainable everyday practices such as recycling, responsible consumption, and household financial management.

The primary language of instruction is Finnish, which supports continuous language learning in different contexts. The training also includes visits, excursions, and job-seeking events.

The aim is for participants to achieve a basic level of Finnish language proficiency that enables them to manage everyday situations and take their first steps towards employment or further studies suited to their needs. At the same time, their skills in job seeking, using digital services, and planning their future will be strengthened.

The first training group of the Keys to Everyday Life project will begin in October. The Adult Education Centre will provide further information about the training at a later stage.
