Sending of preschool decisions to continue in March

Most families have already received their decision. The remaining decisions will be sent out in the coming weeks. Useful links related to preschool decisions can be found at the end of this news article.

The sending of pre-school education decisions in Tampere will proceed during March.

Pre-school education for children born in 2020 will begin in August 2026. Most guardians have already received their pre-school education decisions in January.

Due to a technical error, the sending of decisions has been slightly delayed, but the decision schedule does not affect the order of processing or the principles for granting places.

– The sending of preschool decisions to guardians is proceeding as planned despite a slight delay. All children of preschool age will be granted a place in preschool, says Customer Service Manager Katri Mantere.

Guardians approve the decision in eVaka

Tampere uses a proposed preschool decision system, which means that a child's preschool place is determined based on the address information obtained from the population register.

When the decision arrives, guardians must log in to the eVaka system, where they can accept and receive the assigned preschool place or reject it and apply for another preschool place according to their needs. At the same time, a decision on supplementary early childhood education offered in connection with preschool education will be received. This decision must also be accepted or rejected in eVaka. The need for supplementary early childhood education services can be changed later as needed.

The need for services can be changed by contacting the head of the preschool unit, in which case it is not necessary to submit a new application. More detailed instructions for guardians can be found on the Pre-school enrollment page, and further information on applying can be obtained from the early childhood education service guidance by email or phone.

In addition to preschool education in accordance with the school path, Montessori preschool education and preschool education for children in evening and shift care are also organized. Applications for part-time early childhood education in daycare centers are made in eVaka, and applications for schoolchildren's afternoon activities at school are made through Wilma.

Applications for bilingual preschool education are submitted via Wilma. Bilingual preschool education is provided at Tampere International School (English), Tammela School (German), Wivi Lönn School, and Eteläpuisto School (French). Private preschool education is provided at Steiner School, Svenska Samskolan, and Tampere Christian School.
