Discounts and vouchers at the Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region

The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region grants study voucher discounts to unemployed jobseekers and people over the age of 67 living in Tampere and Ylöjärvi.

The discount can be applied to one course fee per semester.

The discounts are funded by the Finnish National Agency for Education’s study voucher subsidy, the City of Tampere’s recreation fund, and a discount granted by the Ylöjärvi City Board. Once the allocated funds are used up, no further discounts will be granted.

Discounts and conditions

  • People aged 67 or older living in Tampere or Ylöjärvi are entitled to a 25% discount on the course fee. The student must have turned 67 before the course begins.
  • Unemployed jobseekers from Tampere or Ylöjärvi receiving Kela’s basic unemployment allowance or labour market subsidy are eligible for a discount of up to €30. Attach a copy of your most recent Kela payment receipt or a bank statement showing the payment to your online application. If you visit the office, show the receipt to the office secretary. The discount will not be granted without proof.
  • Any portion of the course fee exceeding the value of the study voucher must be paid by the student. The discount does not apply to fees for unattended courses, material costs, or excursions.
  • Discounts for unemployed persons and those over 67 do not apply to home economics courses.
  • If you have a Kaikukortti, please read The Adult Education Centre’s Kaikukortti guidelines carefully.
  • A student may only use one discount (Kaikukortti, unemployment discount, or 67+ discount) per semester.

Apply for the discount before paying the course fee

  • Register for the course on our course website as usual, but do not pay the course fee at the time of registration.
  • Fill in the discount application form and wait for confirmation that your application has been processed, so that the course fee is correctly updated. Applications are processed before the courses begin, so please wait for the confirmation message.
  • Once your discount has been confirmed, you can pay the course fee either through the My registrations section on the course website or by invoice sent to your home, if you haven’t paid by the course start date.
  • You can submit a discount application once registration has started. Registration for the autumn term begins on 1 August, and for the spring term on 4 December.
  • The Adult Education Centre does not grant discounts for course fees that have already been paid.

Kaikukortti Card at The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region

The Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region accepts the Kaikukortti. The Kaikukortti can be used for cultural activities in Tampere.

  • With the Kaikukortti, you can attend one liberal adult education course per semester free of charge in Tampere, up to a value of €40. The card cannot be used for courses costing more than €40 or for courses held in Ylöjärvi.
  • The Kaikukortti does not apply to basic art education, private singing or instrument lessons, or other one-on-one instruction.
  • You can attend a parent–child course free of charge with the Kaikukortti, and the child’s fee is also included in the benefit. Please register the child according to the instructions. However, the Kaikukortti cannot be used to pay for a course if the child is attending alone.

A student may only use one discount (Kaikukortti, unemployment discount, or 67+ discount) per semester.

How to use the Kaikukortti Card

  1. Register for the course as usual on the course website. Once you’ve registered, you cannot change the course you wish to pay for with the Kaikukortti.
  2. After registering, inform The Adult Education Centre's customer service of your personal Kaikukortti number. This allows the customer service team to remove the course fee invoice.

If you do not provide your Kaikukortti number before the course starts, the full course fee will be charged.

Additional information

The Kaikukortti benefit does not apply to courses that include a material fee. If a course includes such a fee, it will be mentioned in the course description and included in the course price. You can contact The Adult Education Centre customer service for detailed information about specific courses.

If a participant attends a course with a personal assistant, the assistant is not charged a course fee. However, please inform the office about the assistant when you call, so they can be included in the course participant count in case of participant limits.

If you register for a course but do not attend, The Adult Education Centre considers the Kaikukortti benefit as used.
