Waste charges

Waste charge and its determination

All residential buildings and holiday homes be connected to the municipal waste management system. Waste management is operated by Pirkanmaan Jätehuolto.

Waste management costs are covered by waste charges, based on tariffs approved by the Regional Waste Management Committee.

Waste charges cover the costs of collecting, transporting and treating waste. The basic charges cover statutory services available to all residents, such as waste information and guidance, collection of hazardous residential waste, maintenance of waste stations and ecopoints, and the operation of the waste management authority.

The waste charge is a public-law charge which is enforceable without court judgment.
