Service changes for the 2026 Nysse summer season approved

Tampere City Regional Public Transport Committee has decided on the public transport services for the summer season 2026 at its meeting on 3 December 2025 according to the proposal. The last day of the summer season is Tuesday, 4 October 2026.

The 2026-2027 Nysse winter season will start mid-week on 5 August 2026 to coincide with the start of school, which will improve cost-effectiveness.

Work on the Tampere Passenger Railway Yard will close Ithe tunnel in Itsenäisyydenkatu to vehicle traffic for several years. Buses 6, 29, 42 and 90 will be re-routed:

  • Buses 6, 42 and 90 will run from Itsenäisyydenkatu to Yliopistonkatu and from there via Kalevantie and Vuolteenkatu to the city centre.
  • Bus 29 will run via Tammelan puistokatu and Lapintie to Rongankatu.

In Ylöjärvi, bus 82 will operate via the new Pallotie junction, providing faster connections from Metsäkylä and Elovaino to Tampere. Buses 84 and 85 will operate to Takamaa and Mutala-Kuru only on weekdays.

In northern Tampere, public transport in the summer season 2026 will be based on the service of line 90. Nysse collected comments from customers on two different route options: a direct connection to Tampere city centre every 70 minutes or an interchangeable connection to the Tays area every 60 minutes. Opinions were virtually evenly split between the two options. In Kämmenniemi and Terälahti, the majority of respondents were in favour of the route to the city centre. The board decided that line 90 should run directly to the centre of Tampere.

The number of shifts on lines 33 and 35 will be increased during the summer season. Line 35 will start operating on Saturdays. Line 50 will be extended to run every 20 minutes on weekends. There will be no weekend service on lines 52A or 52B. On line 18, the frequency will be reduced to 15 minutes on summer evenings.

Lines 39, 44, 46, 47, 48 (Sahalahti - Pohja section), 49, 56, 57, 59, 72, 76, 77, 78, 86, 91, 92 and 93 will stop running during the summer. These lines operate only in the winter season, as they are mainly designed for primary and secondary education.
