Tampere city bike season ends on 31 October
Tampere's city bikes will go into winter break on Friday 31 October 2025. During the past season, 230 000 trips were made on the bikes and more than 15,000 usage passes were purchased.
For the winter, the bikes will be collected from the stations, serviced and stored. Some stations will remain in place, others will be moved to winter storage. Customer service of the city bike service will also be closed at the end of the season.
New products and active use
In 2025, a single-trip fee was introduced to allow flexible use of city bikes for occasional users. The product proved to be popular: 7 100 one-offs were sold. A total of 8,700 additional passes were purchased, of which 2,900 were for the whole season, 2,400 for a month and 3,400 for a day.
For the whole season, the city bike occupancy rate was 1.7 trips per bicycle per day. The most heavily used urban bike stations were located in the city centre and Kaleva area. The station network was extended to Lielahti and Lentävänniemi, where bicycles were well accepted as part of the transport system in the area.
Users recommend the service
According to a customer satisfaction survey carried out in October, the city bike service receives excellent ratings from its users. The willingness to recommend remained high (NPS 78), with an average satisfaction rating of 4 (on a scale of 1 to 5). The most praised aspects were the affordability and clarity of the user charges. Around 80% of respondents felt that using the city bikes was easy and smooth.
According to the survey, the main reasons for not using city bikes were the use of personal bicycles and the lack of city bike stations close to their destinations. A total of 269 people responded to the survey, 70% of whom had purchased a concession by 2025.
The next city bike season begins on 15 April 2026.
