Sustainability in Laikku
Kulttuuritalo Laikku is part of the Tampere Public Cultural Services, whose activities are guided by the Tampere City Strategy. In accordance with the strategy, we take responsibility for well-being and the environment by acting in an ecologically, socially, culturally and economically sustainable manner. We promote equality and safety through our activities. Read below to find out what concrete steps we are taking to promote these goals.
Social responsibility
- We produce and provide accessible cultural services to promote the well-being of our citizens.
- We provide facilities also free of charge and partnerships to cultural communities and other event organizers.
- Our exhibitions and the majority of our events are free of charge.
- The accessibility information for the building is clearly available.
- We develop activities in such a way that even those who do not understand Finnish can find them and enjoy them.
- Our events are based on the principles of safer spaces. We do not tolerate racism, discrimination or other inappropriate behavior on our premises or at our events.
- Our events take health and safety into account. We monitor and follow existing recommendations and communicate them clearly. Earplugs are available at events that may cause discomfort to the audience's hearing.
Environmental and climate responsibility
- Some of the materials produced for events are reusable or recycled.
- We encourage visitors to use environmentally friendly transport solutions by actively informing them about public transport connections and cycling possibilities to the event venues.
- We avoid the use of disposable containers. In situations where they are needed, biodegradable disposable containers will be used.
- We provide tap water for our clients and performers, never bottled water.
- We sort and recycle our waste in accordance with waste management regulations.
- We are listed as a sustainable venue at Think Sustainably service.
