Adult of the Year award
Adult of the Year 2025
This year, the Adult of the Year award was given to Kamula, a meeting place for students aged 16 to 30. At Kamula, young people can take part in small group activities, events, and a variety of other programmes.
The Good Fairy award was presented to youth worker Aleksandr “Santtu” Lihatsov, who works at the Hervanta Youth Centre Kupoli.
Each year, the City of Tampere presents the Adult of the Year award. The award can be granted to a person, group or community that has acted in an exemplary manner and carried out significant work for the benefit of children and young people in Tampere. The prize has been awarded since 2007, and its theme changes annually.
Anyone can propose candidates for the award. The proposals can be submitted via an open application process in September–October. The selection is made by the Culture and Leisure Committee.
The prize is awarded annually at an event related to the World Children’s Day on 20 November. The award includes a diploma and a prize that supports the recipient’s activities. The prize is specified individually for each recipient.
In addition to the Adult of the Year award, the Good Fairy honorary mention is also awarded annually. It has most often been given to a city employee or unit that has acted exemplary or done significant work for the benefit of children and youth in Tampere.
