What kind of park is it?

Lielahti Kartanopuisto Park is a public park adjacent to Lielahti Manor, forming part of the green and recreational area network along the shores of Lake Näsijärvi. Lielahti Manor, the Kartanopuisto Park, and the buildings in the Hiedanranta industrial area have been designated as regional cultural heritage resources. In the summer, events such as park concerts are held there. The park also includes an “edible garden,” where fruit trees, berry bushes, and herbs grow, among other things.

The Story of the Park

Lielahti Kartanopuisto Park is a place rich in diverse biotopes and plant species, situated in a unique landscape. Due to the park’s more than 100-year history as a manor yard, it possesses significant cultural and historical value in addition to its natural value. Many of its natural features have been shaped by human activity. What also makes the area unique is that it features both deciduous woodland and a dry, barren coastal cliff environment within a relatively small area. The Kartanopuisto Park has been designated as one of the most valuable sub-areas of Hiedanranta based on its natural conditions, specifically its rare field vegetation, distinctive tree stands and riparian vegetation, meadows classified as valuable habitats, a lush, deciduous, non-natural key habitat, and its bird species. In addition, the park is the only known bat habitat in the surrounding area.
