City planning pending in early 2025, planning and studies. “Rusetti” wins the Sori competition. The authors of the proposal were revealed to be HELT Architects and AOR Architects. The plan is intended to be further developed in collaboration.
Sori area
Tampere's city centre will be complemented and land use intensified, especially along the tramway and in the public transport zone, including the Sori area. Efforts will be made to improve mobility, especially for pedestrians and cyclists, and to design efficient parking solutions in a dense central environment. Currently, the Sori area includes a few residential blocks, a fuel distribution station, administrative offices and commercial buildings.
Architectural competition under way
The city planning amendment enabling the construction has been filed in early 2025, after which the City of Tampere and Senate Properties have organised an architectural design competition in cooperation with the Finnish Association of Architects Safa. The design competition will seek an urban design solution and ideas for the area's land-use planning.
Four eligible design teams have been selected by lot from among the participants in the design competition and their illustrations can also be viewed from the link below.
"Rusetti" won the competition
The winning entry was considered by the jury to be the most balanced overall. The authors of the proposal were revealed to be HELT Architects and AOR Architects.
