Culture digitally
Read, watch, or listen
The library offers a wide selection of digital resources, most of which can be accessed from outside the library. You’ll find books and magazines to read, movies and concerts to watch, and music to listen to. You can also listen to the Vapriikki's Museojuttu podcast (in Finnish), which delves deeper into the themes and origins of the exhibitions.
An adventure from the comfort of your own couch
Tampere’s culture routes wind through different parts of the city, showcasing familiar landmarks in new ways. On these trails, you can follow in the footsteps of architect Wivi Lönn, musician Juice or even 1918 Finnish Civil War, not only in their actual settings but also at home through videos and audio files.
You can also go on video excursions with Sirkku. The videos take you to various places in Tampere, guided by Sirkku (in Finnish).
Guided virtual tours
At its best, a visit to an art exhibition can deepen your understanding of the state of society, provide memorable experiences, and foster empathy through identification. Video tours make art more accessible.

Artist interviews
Through these artist interviews, art enthusiasts, students, and teachers in Tampere can explore various phenomena in the visual arts and learn about the artist’s profession. The video series can be used as a resource in basic art education and art education. The videos are mostly in Finnish, but some are available in English and German as well.
Tampere 1918 Civil War Museum
The Tampere 1918 Civil War Museum website offers high-quality, reliable, and well-researched information about the events of the civil war in Tampere. This free website is intended for anyone interested in the history of the civil war, and its content, which provides in-depth insights into the course of events, is constantly being updated.
Browse photos – or make a donation yourself
Through the Siiri information service, the Vapriikki's photo archive has made nearly 200 000 digitized photographs freely available to everyone for use and research. You can also donate a digital photograph you have taken yourself to the image archive if you think it would be a good fit for the museum’s “Images from Pirkanmaa!” collections. You can also browse through images donated by others on the service.
Watch the lectures remotely
The goal of the Adult Education Center of the Tampere Region’s public lectures is to offer fresh, open-minded perspectives on current topics and people’s everyday lives. The public lectures are open to everyone and free of charge. Some of the lectures can also be viewed online via live stream. The lectures are most often in Finnish.
Activities and entertainment for kids
On the Rulla Children’s Cultural Center website, for example, you can watch storytime sessions, find inspiration in the “Activities for the Whole Family” cards, or get creative with the help of Rulla’s “Home Workshop” instructions. The contents are in Finnish, but easy to follow.
