Time to Celebrate! exhbition celebrates Art Arc and Rulla

Culture Highlight #51: Come to the Time to Celebrate! exhibition of the Children’s Gallery in the Winter Garden of Tampere Hall! On display are artworks created by 5–12-year-olds. The works were made in Art Arc (Taidekaari) workshops and in Rulla’s Art Hours. Free entry during Tampere Hall’s opening hours, 3 December-4 January.

The Time to Celebrate! exhibition showcases children’s art and a variety of artistic techniques, such as sculpture, scratch art, printmaking, and mixed media with watercolours and water-soluble crayons. Visitors can also take part by writing or drawing a place where they feel at their very best.

The artworks were created in Art Arc’s programmes for 1st and 6th graders, as well as during Rulla’s Art Hours. The theme of the Moomins’ 80th anniversary year is reflected in the works, featuring subjects such as A Party at the Moominhouse and Landscapes of Moominvalley. Friends of the Art Tufts, familiar from art locations, have also joined the celebration.

Art Arc (Taidekaari) is a cultural education programme integrated into the basic education and early childhood education of the City of Tampere. Each year, it introduces around 25,000 children and young people to the city’s art and cultural venues—as viewers, experiencers, and always also as creators. The programme includes 3–5-year-olds in early childhood education, preschoolers, and pupils in grades 1–9 of basic education.

The Children’s Cultural Centre Rulla is a living room full of arts and culture for families with children, located in the Cultural House Laikku in the heart of the city. In Rulla, children can create art, present their works, take part in events and workshops, and explore exhibitions designed for young audiences.

The Children’s and Youth’s Gallery is an art initiative developed by the Art Arc and Rulla. It brings children’s and young people’s art into the urban landscape of Tampere.
