Lobby Gallery [City of Tampere]

The light foyer has bright red sofas. Large photographs hang on the walls. There is also a large green plant.

The Lobby Gallery (Aulagalleria in Finnish), 36,5 m2, on the third floor of the Culture House Laikku is a low-threshold, self-service exhibition space for art enthusiasts, study groups, associations and other third sector actors. Not intended for professional artists.

The Lobby Gallery is a free space for all groups of people, so the works on display must comply with the principles of safer space.

Exhibition times are in high demand

Exhibition times are 2 weeks for individuals and 2-3 weeks for associations. You can propose an exhibition in the Lobby Gallery all year round. The Lobby Gallery are for amateur artists. We do not charge an exhibition fee for the lobby gallery.

The Lobby Gallery is booked until the end of 2026. We are not accepting new exhibition applications for the lobby gallery at this time.

Kahvila Laikku café

In addition to the Lobby Gallery, applicants may include in their application a request to hold a small-scale exhibition at Kahvila Laikku café. The café is not continuously used for exhibitions, so any request for a café exhibition must be mentioned in the application. The conditions are the same as for the Lobby Gallery.

The longer wall opposite the café window wall is 322 cm wide (hanging height 137 cm). This means that only works that can be hung on the walls are possible. It is not advisable to bring very small works to the space, as the exhibition is viewed from the tables in the space and from behind them.

Instructions for exhibitors

Exhibitors must make all practical arrangements themselves. Please read the instructions carefully before applying.

Please send your application by e-mail to kulttuuri(at)tampere.fi. Title of your message: Application for exhibition time at the Aulagalleria.

Briefly describe the theme or topic of your exhibition and yourself. Include a few photos of your work and your preferred exhibition time. The lobby gallery is not intended for professional artists.

Please note that exhibitions in the lobby gallery must be suitable for all viewers and adhere to the principles of safe space and non-invasiveness.

In the space, works may only be hung on hanging rails. Hanging ropes and ladders are available from the information desk of the Culture House Laikku.

The day of installation and dismantling is always Monday. Installation must be done on Mondays between 12 am and 3 pm and dismantling on Mondays between 9 and 11 am. Note that on Mondays, Culture House Laikku is closed to the public. Exhibitors can enter the house by ringing the doorbell at the door of the accessible entrance.

Any plans, eg. opening reception, must always be arranged separately with the staff of the Culture House Laikku due to overlapping activities in the music hall.

Register the event yourself in the Tampere Event Calendar. Registration is required to use the events calendar.This way it will appear in the Laikku event listings, as well as on other cultural tampere.fi -pages and the local newspaper, Aamulehti Menokone. It is a good idea to use also Finnish language.

Submit two A3-sized posters to the information point of the Culture House Laikku. We will put them up in connection with the exhibition.

You should also tell your friends about the exhibition, for example on social media. Tag your posts with @kulttuuritalolaikku and also use the subject tags #KulttuuritaloLaikku #Aulagalleria.
