In June 2026, the Youth Culture Centre will host a total of 36 different free cultural summer courses. There will be activities such as songwriting, musical theatre, Korean language, cosplay props, visual arts, nature photography and much more! We offer courses for different age groups:

Please note that there are courses with the same content in the course list. For such courses, you can only enrol on one. This is indicated in the course description. Please also note the dates of the courses so that you do not enrol in overlapping courses.
Registration for courses will start on this page on Monday 4 May 2026 at 16.00. Courses will be filled in the order of registration.

In this course we will make different types of jewellery such as keyrings, bracelets and anklets. Each day of the course has its own jewellery theme. Weather permitting, we will be in the park next to the Youth Culture Centre, on the wildflowers, enjoying the summer weather. The course can accommodate 15 participants in order of registration. The course will be led by Mette Karjalainen and Neea Pirttijoki. The course is conducted in Finnish. Note! You can only sign up for jewellery course 1 or 2, not both.
Ceramics course (13-17 years)

The course teaches the basics of ceramics using various hand-building techniques. During the first three sessions (Tue 2 June, Wed 3 June and Thu 4 June) you will shape objects in clay. There will then be a break during which the clay works will dry and be rough-fired by the instructor. The last session (Tue 16 June) will be devoted to learning how to glaze. The glazed works will remain to be fired. Finished works can be collected from the Youth Culture Centre on Tuesday 23 June. The course will be led by Minna Granqvist, cultural youth worker. The course can accommodate 8 participants in order of registration. The course is conducted in Finnish.
From Idea to Visibility (13-17 years)

Are you interested in knowing how you can express yourself and make a difference to the things that matter to you? Join us to learn how easy and fun it can be to make a difference! During the four evening course you will meet new people and hear inspiring stories of influence. You'll also get to try out creative ways to make your opinions heard. The course will explore the theme through a variety of cultural tools such as media, music and spoken word. We will also visit the Hirvitalo Contemporary Art Centre in Pispala and get to know its community spirit. The course will be conducted in Finnish. The course will be led by youth counsellors Ulla Taponen and Jenna Naukkarinen. The course can accommodate 15 participants in order of registration.
Korean Language Immersion through K-pop (13-25 years)

This Korean language course offers a fun and engaging introduction to Korean through K-pop. Participants learn Hangeul (the Korean alphabet), practice basic expressions, and start using Korean in everyday contexts. Through music and interactive activities, participants improve their pronunciation and confidence in a relaxed learning environment. In the final session, participants choose and learn a K-pop song together. The course is instructed in English by Korean language teacher Jiyeon Lee. 20 participants will be accepted in order of registration.
Songstorm - songwriting course (15-25 years)

Songstorm strikes for four days and forces creativity into motion. The course is not about waiting for inspiration - it's about building it together. The result is a song or songs that sound like their creators. Jamming and developing a song with real instruments. Whether you're a singer, lyricist, guitarist or drummer, everyone gets to bring their own ideas to the song. The songs created will be recorded at the end of the course as a souvenir for the students. A knowledge of a band instrument or singing is desirable, but you can also take part in the course as a lyricist, for example, if you have no instrumental skills. You can bring your own instrument if you wish, but loaner instruments are also available on site. The course will be led by musician Juha Tretjakov (Pressure Points, The Coveralls). The course can accommodate 12 participants in order of registration. The course is conducted in Finnish.
Musical course (15-25 years)

Have you always wanted to see if musical theatre is your thing? How could you sing, dance and act at the same time? In this course you will learn a musical number by working on it step by step: first singing, dancing and acting separately and then all at the same time. There will be sweat and challenges, but also a lot of fun and a winning feeling! There are no entry requirements, but it's useful if you've done any of these three disciplines before. The language of instruction is Finnish. The course is taught by Helena Rängman, a multi-talented actor (TeM) in musical theatre and musicals. The course can accommodate 30 participants in order of registration.

Ready with an idea, but wondering how to implement it? This course will help you design and make cosplay costume props. We will try to use light and soft/flexible materials, and we will also take into account the rules of con events regarding props. When registering for the course, you should already have chosen which prop you want to make. There are a variety of materials available, but you can also bring your own. The course can accommodate 8 participants in order of registration.

Digital Animation with Anime style (13-25 years)

This course introduces the basics of digital drawing through the anime style. Participants will practice drawing, colouring and shading characters and design their own character or small cartoon. The course is suitable for beginners and those with some drawing experience, and no previous digital drawing experience is necessary.
The language of instruction is Finnish, but you can take part in the course without a good command of Finnish. The course is taught by Leo Pulkkinen (Leorppa), an artist and tattooist. The course can accommodate a total of 12 participants. There is a tablet for eight participants, and four places for participants who have their own tablet.
Texts into action - theatre course (15-25 years)

Welcome to a four-day summer course, where you will learn how to make theatre from your own texts! The course will introduce you to acting and building scenes based on the group's own experiences and observations, while exploring themes that have been overshadowed in our culture through theatre. At the end of the course, there will be an opportunity to create a small-scale performance demo, which will be presented on the last day of the course. Whether you are new to theatre or already experienced, you can join in with curiosity and enthusiasm! The course is suitable for all ages 15-25 and can accommodate a maximum of 16 participants. The course language is Finnish. The course is taught by theatre-art instructors Jarmo Skön and Kari Söderqvist from the Tampere Art Education Association.

Ableton Live and Push Jam Sessions (15-25 years)

In this course you can create your own art doll from recycled materials and air-dry clay. Do you want to make a button-eyed puppet version of yourself? Or create a lasting work of art from your own character? Join a fun group and unleash your creativity! The course will involve creating your own dolls in a group, talking about the origins of dolls and how to create them sustainably. The language of instruction is Finnish. The course is led by artist Janika Viiliäinen. The course can accommodate 10 participants in order of registration.
Intro to table role playing (15-25 years)

This course introduces tabletop role-playing as a concept, briefly discusses the common features of the systems and introduces the most famous ttrpg (Tabletop Role-Playing Game) system Dungeons & Dragons. The course will also explore character creation, role-playing, in-game problem solving and finally the combat system. The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as for those who are already somewhat familiar with the subject. The course will be led in Finnish by Simo Lipsanen, who has been involved in tabletop roleplaying for 10 years and is currently working on a completely new roleplaying system, as well as writing two books on the subject. The course can accommodate 7 participants in order of registration.
Basics of DJing and mixing (13-25 years)

What does DJing involve? The course teaches how to use DJ equipment, how to select and mix songs, how to build tempos and atmosphere, and the role of the DJ at events. Participants will get to try mixing for themselves and more than half of the course will be about playing and learning how to play. The course is aimed at beginners who are interested in DJing or playing music at events - no previous experience is necessary. The main styles of music are techno, house and psytrance, but the course does not require you to be a fan of any particular genre. In addition, participants will be able to influence the genres themselves, which will be covered on the last day of the course. The course will be led in Finnish by DJ and event producer Kalle Rantanen (DJ Kehveli), who has been behind a variety of clubs and theme parties, including Neonya!!, W.E.E.B, OsKillations and Ropecon Discolarp. The course can accommodate 10 participants in order of registration.

This course is designed for making various bath and cosmetic products from natural raw materials. The finished products will be packaged beautifully and appropriately labelled. During the work, basic kitchen ingredients and natural plants that can be used to make your own wellness products will be discussed. Note: Some products are made using essential oils which may cause a reaction in people with a sensitive smell. The instructors are Merja Lehtonen and Katja Hynninen. The course language is Finnish. Metal Drumming Basics (13-25 years)

Do you want to develop your speed, accuracy and control on metal drums? Join us for an intensive two-day course focusing on the most important aspects of modern metal drumming, taught in a practical and clear way. The course will cover topics such as: basic technique and relaxation (the basis of speed), double bass control and development, blast beat and other common metal drum comps, developing speed and stamina, practice routines. The course is suitable for beginners as well as slightly more experienced drummers - exercises are applied according to skill level. The aim of the course is to give you clear tools to develop speed, control and confidence, as well as motivation to practice. The course is taught in Finnish by metal drummer Filip Gäddnäs (Whispered, Moonlight Sorcery (session), Vansidian). The course can accommodate 8 participants in order of registration.
Beat making with tablet (15-25 years)

Would you like to make music but don't have a laptop or music making software? This course will give you the chance to try making music on a tablet! With Koala Sampler you can easily and lightly get started with creating beats and ideas. This two-day workshop is suitable for beginners and more experienced makers alike, and loaner tablets are available on site. Welcome to join us! The course will be led by music producer Lassi Kähärä (Pehmee Goo, Inner). The course can accommodate 8 participants in order of registration.
Photography course - nature photography (15-25 years)
