Appointments are held at Haapakuja 2 from Monday to Wednesday. On Tuesdays, there is a walk-in counseling from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
On Thursdays, the public health nurse is available at the Tullinkulma location, Hammareninkatu 5 B, 3rd floor.

Student health care provides healthcare and non-urgent medical services, sexual health services, as well as mental health and substance abuse services. First-year students are offered a free health check-up.

Appointments with the nurse can be made by phone or online. The nurse assesses the need for care and refers to a doctor if necessary.

This school year, we offer remedial teaching groups in mathematical subjects, Finnish (mother tongue) and Finnish as a second language (S2), as well as in English and Swedish.

Annika Lammi provides remedial teaching in mathematics, Heidi Heikkilä in Finnish and S2, and Sirpa Ruhanen in Swedish and English. In Finnish remedial sessions, you can also get help with written assignments in humanities and social science subjects.

We will inform you about remedial teaching arrangements in the Wilma's weekly bulletin and on the info screen. 

You can also always send a Wilma message if you need remedial teaching: to Annika Lammi (mathematics), Heidi Heikkilä (Finnish/S2, humanities essays), or Sirpa Ruhanen (Swedish/English).

The new student council board was formed via voting in August 2025 and at homeroom meetings (Rotovi) in September 2025. The board president for the 2025-2026 term is Miska Tauriainen 23C, the vice-president is Ada Lindberg 25D, the secretary is Aaro Rintala 22E and the vice-secretary is Aarni Jokela 24C.

Areas of responsibility for the student council board

The student council board is divided into different responsibility teams, which organize events and maintain the PynsäHallitus social media channels, among other things.

The events team organizes the student council board’s biggest events, such as the Pyynikki Frights Halloween event.

The events manager for the 2025-26 term is Ada Lindberg 25D.

The community team is responsible for theme weeks and small happening during the school day.

The community manager for the 2025-26 term is Saga Ahtiainen 25G.

The social media/communications team maintains the board's social media channels and communicates about the board's events and activities on Instagram and TikTok.

The social media/communications manager for the 2025-26 term is Aaro Rintala 22E.

The finance team is responsible for the board's finances in cooperation with the supervising teacher and implements the board's approved proposals for the use of funds and purchases.

The finance manager for the 2025-26 term is Tatu Kettunen 23C.

The Student council board meetings

All board meetings are open to the public (exceptions may apply to certain meetings). You are welcome to attend the meeting to observe and listen to the board's activities. Please note that only board members are generally allowed to make speeches and talk in the meeting, and the attendees is expected to behave appropriately.

PynsäHallitus student council board meetings are characterised by a good team spirit and a desire to make Pyynikin lukio upper secondary school a better and more enjoyable place to study and work!

What does the student council board do?

The student council board’s main purpose is to represent students in school level and city level decision-making. We make sure the interests of students are taken into account in school operations and make statements to the school administration about decisions regarding students. The board also organizes events and other activities at the school, such as the annual Pyynikki Frights Halloween event and many theme weeks during the school year.

Your child has chosen a wonderful school, congratulations! It's great that you are interested in your child's studies and school.

The parents' association has an important role as a bridge between the upper secondary school and families. Cooperation is essential as young people search for their place in society. Together, by supporting and guiding the youth, we aim to ease their choices in school and life. We strive to influence city decision-makers when necessary, in collaboration with the professional staff of the upper secondary school.

The Pyynikin lukio upper secondary school parents' association grants scholarships to graduating students both in the spring and autumn. Additionally, scholarships are awarded to students who are good friends, encourage, and support others. We also provide other grants and sponsor student trips and activities.

The association's income mainly consists of voluntary membership fees and fees collected from organizing various events.

The voluntary membership fee for the Parents' association is 10 euros per family. You can pay the membership fee to the upper secondary school's parents' association account TSOP: FI 24 5732 2620 0531 40. Please use the reference 10029. The payment can also be made by debit card during family evenings, also known as parent-teacher evenings.

The next meeting of the association's board will be on October 30, 2024, at 5:30 PM in the teachers' lounge of the upper secondary school.

The board meetings of the association are open, and all parents and guardians of students are welcome to attend. The meetings are held on the sofas in the teachers' lounge on the first floor of the upper secondary school.
