Vapaalla magazine highlights the top cultural picks for summer

Read the newest tips on culture in the new issue of Vapaalla magazine! Published by the City of Tampere's cultural services, the magazine compiles current events, experiences, exhibitions, and courses into one volume three times a year. It also features a brief summary in English.

Vapaalla magazine shares updates three times a year on what’s happening in the city’s cultural services. It includes everything from museums to the Adult Education Centre, as well as sports and youth services. An English summary of the magazine’s contents can be found on the back cover of the issue.

The issue released in May focuses on summer in Tampere. Park concerts will bring stages around the city to life, two new exhibitions will open at Vapriikki, and the Sara Hildén Art Museum will showcase works from the foundation’s own collection. The doors of the Moominhouse will open in the Moomin Museum's “Welcome to the Moominhouse!” exhibition, celebrating the Moomins’ 80th anniversary, and there’s plenty more Moomin-themed fun happening throughout the summer.

This year, both Museum Milavida and the Amuri Museum of Historic Housing are celebrating milestone anniversaries. The Tampere Art Museum will continue its surrealism exhibition through the summer, and the Adult Education Centre is reminding everyone about the current application period for basic art education. The summer will once again culminate in the Tampere Philharmonic’s park concert on 9 August.

All this and much more can be found in the summer issue of Vapaalla, available to read online as a digital edition or accessible PDF, or to pick up in print from libraries, museums, swimming halls, Cultural House Laikku, or the Frenckell info point. Vapaalla is also distributed to all households in the Tampere area without advertising restrictions, as well as to subscriber households in Pirkkala, Ylöjärvi, Kangasala, and Nokia via Aamulehti.
