Prosumers – producers and consumers of sustainable solutions – develop and utilize new services. Residents, associations, businesses, and experts in Tampere are invited to join in developing sustainable solutions for everyday mobility, food, and energy.
– We will continue the work of the city’s Carbon-Neutral Actions development program. We will apply the program’s lessons on co-development with residents and communities. We can further develop our own climate and environmental initiatives, now with the support of external funding, says Project Manager Elina Pulliainen from City of Tampere.
Prosumerism can be technical, such as smart energy solutions, but it can just as easily be community-driven development of everyday life, where small ideas can grow into big impacts.
The project is funding community experiments with a total of 180,000 euros. Funding can be applied for in the community grant call opening in July. The experiments seek both social and technological innovations that improve the sustainability of everyday life and strengthen local action.
The project’s kick-off event will be held at Nekalab on April 16 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. This event and the spring workshops are open to all residents, associations, organizations, community groups, businesses, and entities working in the fields of food, transportation, and energy.

Urban Prosumers project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe program. It is implemented by the Tampere University Consortium, the City of Tampere, EcoFellows Ltd and MDI. The project supports the implementation of the EU’s Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities mission in the Tampere region.
