Children's day care

Children’s day care supports child’s growth, development and learning.
High-quality day care is based on the co-operation of children, parents and the staff.

Early education in day care is comprised of planned and target-oriented inter-relations and common activities in which children’s playfulness is of basic importance.

Parents can choose the day care form that best suits their child:

  • Municipal day care or family care: all children under school age are entitled to receive municipal day care
  • Child home care allowance, if one of the parents or, for example, a relative takes care of the child/children at home and the youngest child is under 3
  • Private day care allowance, in which case the child’s care provider is a private service supplier approved by the municipal authority
  • Play club activities, in which case the child’s right to the child home care allowance is maintained.
