Family support centres

There are six family support centres in Tampere. They provide services in the fields of non-institutional care and support measures, family therapy and children's ward care.

Non-institutional care provided by the family support centres can be, for example, short-term non-institutional placement as well as family and non-institutional work.

In family therapy, a family learns how to best utilise resources needed to cope with daily life.
Therapy is proposed to parents with a drug-abusing child, or to pregnant women having drug, intoxicant or mental health problems.
Therapy is also proposed if the above mentioned are feeling tired, depressed and/or have a need for special guidance.

A child or adolescent may be admitted into the ward when his/her growth and development is in danger.

The decision on ward care is made by the family’s social welfare worker. It can be based on reasons of living conditions at home, the child’s behaviour and/or when it is no longer possible to assist the child while still living at home.

Päiväperho

Family Support Centre Päiväperho provides a meeting place for discussion with counsellors and nurses. Ther support centre is aimed at pregnant women with intoxicant or drug abuse problems and families with small children. Päiväperho gives its clients a chance to participate in various groups and to have meals if necessary.

An individual can contact Päiväperho by either making a phone call or by visiting. No appointment is necessary and the services are free of charge.
After contacting Päiväperho, a client has the possibility to receive suitable treatment or support.

Kissanmaa

Kissanmaa Family Support Centre is a child protection support centre with a stand-by service. The unit has a family therapy ward and two stand-by wards for small children younger than 12 years old.

Leinola

Leinola Family Support Centre has two wards, one for children of 12 - 17 years old and the other for children in psychiatric therapy.

The stand-by ward gives advice and guidance by telephone 24 hours a day on issues related to crisis situations of young people, tel. 050 345 3009.

Metsola

Rahola

The Rahola Family Support Centre provides child protection in non-institutional form for example through discussions with families, activity-based family work and children's ward care.
