» Counselling Point of social services

Family and social services organized by the City of Tampere are intended for Tampere residents only. Thus, obtaining services requires one’s registration in the city’s population data office.

The welfare services are based on various legal Acts. Most services are subject to judgement, which allows the local authorities to decide independently on budgetary appropriation. Concerning certain services, residents of a municipality have the subjective right to them and local authorities have to ensure their availability.

Welfare services are aimed at supporting local residents as early as possible in various problematic life situations such as economic difficulties, child protection issues and substance abuse.

The Social Insurance Institution of Finland, Kela, is in charge of several social benefits such as sickness insurance, unemployment insurance and basic pension insurance.
