Tampere Ice Stadium

Tampere Ice Stadium – also known as Hakametsä Stadium – was the first ice stadium in Finland. It was built for the Ice Hockey World Championships in 1965. The stadium also hosted Ice Hockey World Championships in 1982, 1991, 1997 and 2003 and Women's World Championships in 1992. Tampere Ice Stadium is visited by around half a million people each year. The stands have 7300 seats.

Depending on the length of the season, the ice in the stadium is maintained from late July till April or May. The stadium also serves as a venue for various competitions, fairs, concerts and other major public events. The local ice hockey clubs, Liiga-Ilves, Liiga-Tappara and KOO-VEE, play their matches in the stadium.
