Vaccinations against influenza will start at health centres on Monday 4.11. and also at child welfare clinics in November as soon as the vaccines have arrived.
Basic vaccinations and their boosters against tetanus, diphtheria and polio are given at the local , by occupational health services, and Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS). The basic vaccinations are free of charge.
The influenza vaccination (flu shots) should be taken in November-December.
Influenza vaccinations are offered free of charge to people whose health would be in serious jeopardy by the influenza or who receive substantial health benefits from being vaccinated. The vaccination is offered to
- pregnant women
- all children aged 6 months - 6 years
- all aged 65 or above
- people who are at risk because of their illness or care
- family of persons susceptible to serious influenza
- men starting their military service and women starting their voluntary military service
- social and health care staff and people working in the provision of medicines.
Influenza vaccinations for adults are given at the health centres starting from Monday 4 November.
Vaccination appointments at the city’s health centres can be reserved from Monday 14.10. online or the health services counselling number 03 10023 daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Appointments at Mehiläinen Oma Lääkärisi Hervanta, city centre and Tesoma health centres are reserved by contacting the health centre directly. Appointments to Mehiläinen Oma Lääkärisi Tesoma can be reserved also by using the online service.
Vaccination appointments can be reserved for the opening hours of the health centres. Furthermore, Hatanpää, Hervanta, Linnainmaa, Tammelakeskus and Tipotie health centres schedule vaccination appointments until 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
If you have reserved an appointment at the health centre for some other reason, you can get the vaccination at the same time. Those in risk groups can get the vaccination during a regular check-up at the diabetes outpatient clinic and with the adult health care nurse.
Influenza vaccinations are also given without a reserved appointment. From 4 November, influenza vaccinations are given in the order of arrival, Monday to Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Hatanpää, Hervanta, Linnainmaa, Tammelakeskus and Tipotie health centres. Customers of Mehiläinen Oma Lääkärisi Hervanta and city centre are vaccinated without reserved appointments on Mondays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. At the Oma Lääkärisi Tesoma health centre, vaccinations are available without reservation on Thursday 21 November from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday 30 November from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. is a campaign day. You can arrive for vaccination without reservation at Hatanpää, Hervanta, Linnainmaa, Tammelakeskus and Tipotie health centres and at Mehiläinen’s Oma Lääkärisi health centres in Hervanta, city centre and Tesoma.
You can reserve an appointment on the health centre campaign days, including the vaccination Saturday, if you wish to skip the queue.
Persons coming to get a seasonal influenza vaccination should have their Kela card with them. In order to make your vaccination easier, you should wear a garment with sleeves that can be easily rolled up. After the vaccination, be prepared to stay at the premises and rest for approximately 15 minutes. If you experience any problems after the vaccination, we recommend that you call the health services information and advice line on 03 10023, open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Furthermore, vaccinations are given without reserved appointments at the welfare clinic kiosk (Itsenäisyydenkatu 21 B, 1st floor) from 6 November on Wednesdays from 8.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Also the child welfare clinics organise campaign days for giving vaccinations without appointments.
Schoolchildren and students who are entitled to a free vaccination will primarily be vaccinated by the school or student health services. Further information about the vaccinations is available from your school and student health nurse.
Booking an appointment is necessary. You can arrange an appointment either by calling during the specified calling times or by visiting the office during the opening hours.
