You can contact with your public health nurse considering your health, contraception, relationships, vaccinations, mental problems, alcohol, drugs etc. Public health nurse makes health checks to some groups who study more than a year, at the first year of studies.
You can make an appointment for the doctor at the nurses office or call. Check your own place and phone numbers:
Student health services of nurse and psychologist are free of charge. Doctor`s appointment is liable to charge, starting 18-year-old and older will be charged the health center fee, 20,60 euros, at the first three appointments during a year.
There is an exception with contraception; an appointment considering contraception is free of charge. Medical certificate that is not directly connected with treatment is chargeable. An invoice will be mailed afterwards, cash payment is not possible.
Notice! When student does not keep his/her appointment, a penalty fee of 50,80 euros will be charged.
Remember to use your travelling insurance if some acute accident happens. Please, contact your insurance company before you go the privat clinic.
If you come from EU/EEA countries or Switzerland and you use the European Health Insurance Card you should have that or comparable form with when you seek treatment of doctor.
It is always needed a copy about travelling insurance document/European Health Card for handling insurance charge. The copy will be taken in a treatment place.
Tampere University Hospital/ Acuta takes care of these serious emergencies, which cannot be taked care of in health care centers.

The psychologists working within student health care give guidance, advice and short-term therapy the goal of which is to restore and maintain the student’s ability to study and/or work. The students coming to consult a psychologist have been referred to the psychologist by a public health nurse or a doctor. You need to contact your own nurse to make a first appointment for psychologist or a psychiatric nurse.
