Tampere is one of the fastest growing regions in Finland. In Tampere there are over 220,000 residents, of which some 9,700 are foreign nationals. The urban environment in Tampere is pleasant and safe, and the aim is
to keep Tampere that way through city planning and care of the
environment.
As the population grows, there is an increasing need for new homes. Housing production and city planning in Tampere offer versatile and affordable housing for people at various stages of their lives.
All building work is supervised to ensure that the required health and safety standards are achieved in practice. The Building Control Department is responsible for supervising building work and preserving and enhancing the appearance of the built environment. In addition, the Building Control Department is in charge of handling building permits, carrying out inspections relating to these permits and providing instructions to people building their own homes.
The Frenckell Service Point also gives advice on housing and building-related issues. From there you will find maps, a range of services for people building their own homes, and various forms and brochures.
