Summer Calendar

The summer season brings changes for the opening hours of the city’s services and public transport timetables. The summer is also full of events and activities for people of all ages, for those living in Tampere as well as those visiting. See the opening hours of the city’s services and get tips on how to spend the long summer days full of light. You can also find the Midsummer weekend opening hours in the Summer Calendar.

You can check the opening hours of all Tampere libraries and find information about events taking place in the libraries during the summer on the libraries’ websites.

Cultural Events

The old manor and park environment of the Haihara Art Centre features art exhibitions, children’s art workshops, summer theatre, park concerts and many other events. You can enjoy refreshments in the 200-year-old coffee room of the mansion. Exhibitions are open Tuesday to Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Closed for Midsummer on 25–28 June.

There will be many free park concerts, art exhibitions and other cultural activities in Tampere during the summer as well as activities especially for children. See cultural events:


For children and young people

Children’s Traffic Park
Open until 7 August Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Open on 21–24 June Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Closed on 25–28 June.
Participation is completely free of charge.


Sports and leisure

Swimming pools outside. People are swimming and sunbathing.

You can exercise in various ways also in the summer: both indoors and outdoors. All kinds of sports events will be held, including instructor-led groups:

Let’s go cycling! Check the cycling maps and routes. The city bike system will be launched in June 2021. City bike stations are located in the city center and along the tramway in the Kaleva area. For the use of city bikes, the Tampereen kaupunkipyörät application is downloaded, which is used to register as a user of city bikes and to pay for their use. You can also rent a city bicycle for 24 hours.

Beaches

Tampere has more than 30 beaches for your swimming pleasure. You can check the water temperatures and algae situations of city beaches online using the information service for sports and exercise facilities.

Children can attend free beach swim schools in natural waters.

Outdoor sports venues

Outdoor gyms around the city make it possible to train and enjoy the fresh air at the same time.

There are several outdoor activity and hiking areas in and around Tampere where you can go enjoy summer nature on a short exercise path or even a longer hike. The new Kintulammi hiking area offers duckboard trails and lean-tos with a place for a campfire. Markets

Laukontori market is open on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Midsummer’s Eve 25 June, the market will be open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Tammelantori market is open on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Midsummer’s Eve 25 June, the market will be open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Hervanta market will have market sales on Tuesdays and Fridays from from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Midsummer’s Eve 25 June, the market will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Public transport

Tampere Regional Transport has switched to summer timetables. Switching to the summer timetables has brought changes to routes. Check the summer timetables and routes from the public transport website:

During the summer season the public transport service point in Frenckell is open from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The telephone service in number 03 5656 4700. The public transport customer service is closed on Midsummer’s Eve, 25 June.


Social and Health Services

Health care counselling gives guidance and instructions every day throughout the summer from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.: tel. 03 5657 0023.

Counselling Point of social services is open throughout the summer. Number for counselling: 03 5657 0200, Monday - Friday 9 - 15. The Counselling Point at the address Hatanpäänkatu 3 F (3rd floor) is open Monday and Thursday 9 - 15, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9 - 14.

Aplodi Cultural Shop sells tickets to almost all cultural events in Tampere. Aplodi is located on the ground floor of Tampere Theatre (Hämeenkatu 14 B).
