The application period for morning and afternoon activities for school children has begun
The application period for morning and afternoon activities for the next school year 2019–2020 in Tampere has begun. This application period concerns children currently participating in preschool education who will start school in August 2019. Furthermore, this application period concerns first grade pupils who will commence in second grade in August 2019. Applications must be submitted by 21 January 2019.

Pupils in the first and second grades in basic education have the possibility to apply for the morning and afternoon activities if both parents are working or studying.
A place can also be granted due to other special reasons. Other special reasons are compelling needs of the family or the child, and decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. In order to refer to a special reason, the guardian must include in the application an expert analysis or assessment of the child’s need.
Families may choose the number of hours they need from among three options
Afternoon activities are available after school from midday until 5 p.m. Some groups also offer morning activities from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., depending on demand.
Families may select their requirement for the services from among three options: 1–3 h/day, 3–4.5 h/day or 4.5–6 h/day. The service fees are determined according to the option chosen. In groups offering morning activities, the hours can be divided between the morning and the afternoon in such a way that the total number of hours chosen by the family does not exceed the limit.
It is also possible to apply for a place in services providing child care services for shift workers, if necessary.
The application method is an online application form available on the City of Tampere website concerning morning and afternoon activities. More information on the activities is also available on the websites.
