The renovation of the old library has been completed on schedule. The decoration and moving work have been completed, and the building will reopen as the renewed Culture House Laikku on Saturday, 28 April with a large opening ceremony carnival. In the event, Laikku will demonstrate its versatility and take charge of the cultural centre, the surrounding park and the recently renovated Laikunlava from 10 am to 6 pm with its colourful programme.
Starting 2 May 2018, Migration Info Centre Mainio will provide service at the premises of Cultural House Laikku (the Old Library House) at Tampere Central Square, Keskustori 4 (3rd floor). Due to the relocation, Mainio will be closed on 23–30 April. The phone service will also be closed.
The removal of street grit from the main bicycle routes and some main streets has begun in Tampere. The removal has started a couple of weeks behind schedule this spring. Night frost and dry weather continue to slow down the removal. Due to sunny and dry weather, the main streets have been treated with salt brine to reduce airborne dust.
The application period for morning and afternoon activities and for Eppu club activities for the next school year 2018–2019 in Tampere has begun. The application period is 9–22 April 2018. Families will be notified if their child has been granted a place by 13 June 2018.
