Face masks: The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) has issued a recommendation that urges citizens to use face masks to protect other people. The responsibility to purchase masks falls mainly on residents themselves. Low-income residents of Tampere can collect free face masks from the Distribution Point for Medical Supplies during its opening hours.
Patients in Tampere are entitled to medical supplies free of charge, based on a report from their doctor or nurse. The prerequisite is that the need for the supplies and equipment is estimated to be of a long-term nature, usually more than three months.
First-time customers must present a certificate specifying the amount of medical supplies they will need for three months.
Orders for the medical supplies can be made by telephoning 03 5657 0003 or by visiting the distribution point in person. Diabetics are not required to order their medical supplies in advance.
Examples of medical supplies:
- Fistula supplies
- Diabetic supplies
- Wound care supplies
- Incontinence nappies, catheters and urine collection bags
- Other medical supplies, e.g. supplies for oxygen therapy, dialysis treatment, artificial nutrition and tracheostomy careti
