Emergency social and crisis services

You can contact the emergency social and crisis services in Tampere in different kinds of acute crisis situations you may encounter in your life.

The emergency social and crisis services are available 24 hours a day: call 0500 625 990.

You can also contact us by calling the general emergency number 112.

Social workers at the emergency and social crisis services work in connection with the Tampere police station and Tays Accident and Emergency Department Acuta.

Child welfare matters

  • weekdays Mon–Fri, 9–15: call 040 568 5520 (child welfare emergency services)
  • other times: call 0500 625 990 (emergency social and crisis services)

Child welfare emergency services work during office hours to receive child welfare notifications concerning Tampere and Orivesi and to process urgent child welfare matters. In non-urgent cases, families with children can contact social work for families with children, and adults can contact adult social work.

At the emergency social and crisis services, we handle

  • urgent child welfare matters outside office hours
  • people reaching out about minors’ substance abuse and crime
  • situations with domestic and intimate partner violence.

In addition, we are responsible for organising crisis support (for example the death of a loved one) and we help find solutions when an older person cannot cope alone at home. You can also contact the emergency social and crisis services when you urgently need an assessment by social services and cannot wait until the next working day.

Please note that the emergency social and crisis services do not handle situations that can wait until the next working day without endangering anyone’s safety. The emergency social and crisis services do not process money, make credit transfers or pay bills. In matters concerning social assistance, primarily contact Kela. The emergency social and crisis services are also not competent to implement matters related to a child’s custody and visitation agreements if the agreement or court decision is not being followed. Enforcement of visitation rights can be applied from the District Court during office hours.

During office hours, the emergency social and crisis services are available to people living in Tampere and Orivesi. Outside office hours, the services cover all of Pirkanmaa except for Kuhmoinen.

The head of the emergency social and crisis services is responsible for the operations of the emergency social and crisis services
