Tampere has many outdoor areas for hikers, ranging from the magnificent eskers of Pyynikki near the city centre and the forests of Kauppi, Niihama and Hervanta to the hiking areas of Velaata and Teisko further away, including Kintulammi, whether you wish to get some exercise or are merely looking for refreshment in the bosom of nature. Many exercise routes are turned into skiing tracks in winter. 

Tampere's location between Lake Pyhäjärvi and Lake Näsijärvi creates great opportunities for boating and outdoor activities on lakeshores.
