Library guidance

You can ask for guidance with using your own audio and video devices and software. In addition, we can help with matters related to recording or film and music production.

Guidance rules:

- The service is intended for private customers, not commercial operators.

- Purchase recommendations are not given and software installations or updates are not carried out for the customers during the guidance sessions.

- The expert will do their best to answer your questions based on their knowledge of the subject. However, due to the extensiveness of the AV industry, it is not possible to answer all questions in a clear-cut manner.

It is possible to become a customer of Celia without appointment at all our libraries. You can book a personal guidance session if you wish to have more comprehensive guidance regarding the service. If you want to, you can also bring your own device with you.

Celia’s audiobooks can be used by all persons who have difficulties with reading a regular book due to, for instance, dyslexia, poor eyesight, myopathy or other similar reason.

Information about Celia

We can help you with the basic use of a computer, the internet and mobile devices or with minor difficulties related to using devices. During the guidance session, you yourself will be using the device with the goal that you will be able to independently take care of your business and to use your devices in future.

We can help you with using the library e-materials. How can I listen to an audiobook on my tablet? How to read e-journals? Make a booking for a library e-material guidance session. In the additional information section, you can specify with which topics you would like to have more guidance and which e-materials interest you (e-books, e-journals, e-music or films).

If you want to, you can also bring your own device with you. If you need guidance with the basic use of a device, make a booking for a digital guidance session.

In Visio, there is a media workstation with a powerful computer as well as an all-in-one printer you can use to print images on poster or photo paper, sticker sheets or heat transfer materials pressed on textiles, among other things. Visio also has a machine for making button badges, a heat press and a laminating machine. If you need help with printing or editing photos for printing, you can book a personal guidance session in Visio.

Soundi is a soundproofed room with studio recording equipment. The room has string instruments, electric drums, a keyboard, a sampler, microphones and other equipment for recording and making music. If you need help with recording or using recording software, you can book a personal guidance session in Soundi.

We can help you return to being a library user if you can no longer use the services due to, for example, unpaid fees or unreturned materials.

We will be happy to help you if:

- you need help with materials that are late or missing or with unpaid fees

- you have been contacted by the collection agency or have received an invoice from the library

- you have already paid your late return fees, replaced missing materials or paid the collection agency but, in our records, are still banned from borrowing materials.

During a guidance session, we can show you our microfilm room materials and provide guidance with using the microfilm reading equipment.

We can help you with using the Rockway room equipment. The Rockway room is a soundproofed room with basic band instruments where you can also record music and participate in Rockway’s instrument playing courses. The room is equipped with string instruments, electrical drums, microphones and a MIDI keyboard. For recording and post-editing of music, the room is equipped with a sound card with two inputs and Logic Pro software.

We can help you with using the PIKI online services of the libraries and other information sources. The search topics can be related to children, young people, music, genealogy or general knowledge. Comprehensive search guidance related to academic research is the responsibility of institute libraries.
