The summer season brings changes to the opening hours of services and public transport timetables. You can find the opening times for summer via the links on this page on the services' own websites.

Public transport and city bikes

The summer season is from 2 June until 3 August 2025. Timetables will change to meet summer demand, and commuter and school bus services will be on a break during the summer.

In the summer, you should also try city bikes. See Nysse's website for more information.

The public transport customer service at Frenckell (Frenckellinaukio 2 B) is available on site Mon-Fri 9-16 and by phone 03 5656 4700 Mon-Fri 9-12.

Error reports and contact information

You can report errors in the maintenance of streets, parks or beaches on the city's website. 

You can report problems with water distribution and sewage system to Tampere Water and electricity and heat to Tampereen Energia.

Employment and Growth Services

On 19 June, 2025, all phone services and info desks will close at 3 PM.

Phone services during the summer will be available from 23 June to 31 July from 9 AM to 3 PM.

Offices

The Employment and Growth Services office at Pellavatehtaankatu 25 and Rautatienkatu will be open all summer from 9 AM to 4 PM.

The following offices will be closed during the specified periods:

  • Pakkahuoneenaukio 2, 2nd floor: 23 June – 1 August, 2025
  • Tullikatu 6, 3rd floor: 23 June – 31 July, 2025
  • Tullikatu 6, 4th floor: 23 June – 31 July, 2025

When the office is closed, customers are requested to visit the Pellavatehtaankatu office.

Ohjaamo

Tampere Ohjaamo at Hammareninkatu 5 B will be closed from 30 June to 18 July, 2025.

Remote services will be available throughout the summer, including during the summer break, from 9 AM to 1 PM. You can call 040 197 5144 (also WhatsApp) or contact via email: [email protected]. Please do not include your personal identification number or health information in messages or emails for privacy reasons. 

Personal coaches will assist with employment matters from 2 June to 30 June and from 21 July to 29 August during the afternoon open counseling from 1 PM to 4 PM.

Social and health services

Social and health services are provided by the wellbeing services county of Pirkanmaa.

Libraries

Summer is the time to read! You can check the opening hours and events of all Tampere libraries on their websites.

It's also worth checking out Soundi and Visio hobby rooms at Main Library Metso, or borrow for example sports equipment for your own park exercise.

Marketplaces and Tampere Market Hall

Buy berries, vegetables and other delicious summer foods from Tampere's markets:

  • Tampere Market Hall, open Mon-Fri 9–18, Sat 9–16
  • Tammelantori, open Mon-Tue, Thu-Fri 6–18, Wed 6–22, Sat 6–16
  • Laukontori, open Mon-Fri 6–20, Sat 6–16
  • Hervanta market, open Tue and Fri 8–16

You can visit the markets for shopping, coffee or just to get a sense of the atmosphere. For flea market sales, there are places in Tammelantori, Laukontori and Hervanta market.

The Evening Markets will be held on Tammelantori on Wednesday evenings in June and July, starting from 4 June. Markets will offer free sales at the flea market tables, and there will also be free market exercise for local residents.

Outdoor activities and nature

Tampere and the surrounding area has numerous parks, outdoor recreation and hiking areas where you can spend the summer in the nature. The Kintulammi nature reserve and camping area offers long woodland trails and camping sites with campfires. There are also nature trails for shorter hikes. See outdoor trails, hiking instructions and advice on fishing and crayfishing.

Park meals for children and young people

Welcome to park meals! For all children and young people under 18 years of age from Monday to Thursday 2 June - 17 July, 2025 in Hervanta, Kaukajärvi, Lielahti, Linnainmaa, Nekala, Peltolampi and Tesoma.

Culture and museums

You can enjoy culture outdoors in places like Finlayson Art Area, Hiedanranta and Tampere's culture routes.

Museums and art centres are also open on rainy summer days. See the summer opening hours on the websites of the venues.

Rug washing sites

Rug washing sites are open from around mid-May until mid-September.

See the animals

There are many places to see animals in Tampere during the summer. Heifers representing the Finnish herd graze in the meadow at the eastern end of Iidesjärvi lake and in the Hevoshaka meadow.

There are sheep in Rukkamäki and the Pärrinkoski nature reserve in Peltolammi, Piikahaka in Rahola, Kohmanpuisto in Tohloppi and Haihara in Kaukajärvi. Birds can be admired in Sorsapuisto.

However, please do not feed cows, sheep or birds, as they may get sick from it.

Swimming

Tampere has more than 30 beaches. You can check the water temperatures and algae conditions at the city's beaches online at the Outdoor Sports Conditions Service. Outdoor Swimming Pool in Kaleva, next to the Tampere Swimming Centre, is also a nice place to spend summer days.

You can also swim in the city's swimming pools during the summer, except during maintenance breaks.

Sports and exercise
