The new Art Express bus service offers easy access to cultural experiences in the Tampere Region straight from the city centre

Widely popular Outdoor Express nature bus service is expanding this year to cover arts and culture. The Art Express culture buses will take travellers to Visavuori Museum and the Voipaala Art Centre in Valkeakoski, and also to the Nuutajärvi Glass Village in Urjala on four Saturdays this summer. In addition, the familiar shuttle bus to Serlachius Museums will join the Art Express family, taking travellers daily to Mänttä-Vilppula.

Art Express service offers an easy and sustainable way to travel to local cultural attractions in the Tampere Region.

The bus will head to the Nuutajärvi Glass Village in Urjala on 10 June and 1 July and to Visavuori Museum and the Voipaala Art Centre in Valkeakoski on 17 June and 8 July. There will be one round trip on each of these days. One-way tickets for adults are €12 to Nuutajärvi and €10 to Valkeakoski.

Art Express will run daily from Tampere to Serlachius Museums in Mänttä-Vilppula from June to August. Return tickets from Tampere to Mänttä are €30 for adults.

Art Express tickets can only be purchased in advance from the Matkahuolto, using the links provided on the Art Express web page. Bus tickets do not include entrance fees, which will need to be purchased separately.

The Art Express service aims to offer easy and sustainable access to various cultural attractions in Pirkanmaa region by arranging direct transport from Tampere city centre. This will serve non-motorists while also offering a sustainable alternative to private motoring.

– Pirkanmaa is full of splendid cultural attractions, so it’s great to offer low-threshold opportunities to also visit sites located outside Tampere city centre. Local cultural tourism ought to be possible for everyone, and these types of services are also important from the perspective of equality. Furthermore, we hope to offer opportunities to embed a comprehensively more sustainable lifestyle as part of people’s everyday lives,” says Otto Ikävalko, Sustainable Experience Economy Planner from the City of Tampere.

Development Director Päivi Viherkoski from Serlachius Museums considers the Express product family important:

– It’s great that we, culture providers in Pirkanmaa region, can join forces to improve access to our splendid attractions outside city centres. The Art Express concept makes it easy for customers to buy tickets. While ‘express’ is a familiar word to Finns, it is also recognisable to international travellers. Soon we will also start talking about the Sauna Express, which will take people to our Art Sauna on public sauna days on Tuesdays, and also Wednesdays in July.”
