Tampere and Orivesi have expanded the fourth coronavirus vaccination in compliance the recommendation of the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), and as of the beginning of August, people in risk groups aged 18–69 can now get the vaccine.

Persons suffering from, for example, a severe heart or pulmonary disease, diabetes and morbid obesity belong to medical risk groups. See detailed information about the risk groups at the National Institute for Health and Welfare’s website: Risk groups for severe coronavirus disease

Starting from 8 August, Tampere will also start giving a fourth coronavirus vaccine to persons over the age of 60. This group can already book a time for after 8 August.

The fourth dose of the vaccine may be given when at least three months have passed since the third vaccination. Persons who have had COVID-19 and three vaccines do not need a fourth vaccine, as having had the disease is equivalent to one vaccine. The gap in time between the vaccine and coronavirus infection must be at least six weeks for the infection to be considered equivalent to one vaccine.

It is possible to get a coronavirus vaccine without an appointment from the Hatanpää walk-in vaccination point (Hatanpäänkatu 24, C building). The walk-in point is open:

  • Mon 8 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

  • Tue and Wed 11 a.m.–6 p.m.

  • Thurs and Fri 8 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

Vaccinations are also given by appointment at health centres and the Hatanpää vaccination unit on weekdays. (Hatanpäänkatu 24, C building).

We recommend that you primarily book your appointments online at tampere.fi/en/health/coronavirus/covid-19-vaccinations. If you cannot use the online booking system, please call 03 5657 0023 (from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.). Residents of Orivesi may also book an appointment by calling the health centre appointment number: 03 5657 5777, Mon–Fri from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

The fourth coronavirus vaccine has already been recommended for everyone over the age of 70 as well as everyone over the age of 12 who is severely immunocompromised.
