Fourth round of COVID-19 vaccinations staggered to cover more people in Tampere – everyone over the age of 70 may now get vaccinated

In Tampere and Orivesi, the fourth round of COVID-19 vaccinations for people at risk of severe coronavirus disease will begin in accordance with the recommendation of the National Institute for Health and Welfare.

First, the vaccinations will move to cover people aged 70–79 who do not belong to medical risk groups. After this, the vaccinations will move to cover people aged 18–69 belonging to medical risk groups and then people aged 60–69 who do not belong to medical risk groups.

The fourth dose of the vaccine may be given when at least three months have passed since the third vaccination. If a person has had COVID-19 and received three doses of the vaccine, they will not need a fourth dose at this point.

Vaccinations are given by appointment at health centres and the Hatanpää laboratory on weekdays. We recommend that you primarily book your appointments online at tampere.fi/en/covid19vaccinations. If you cannot use the online booking system, please call 03 5657 0023 (from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.). Residents of Orivesi may also book an appointment by calling the health centre appointment number: 03 5657 5777, Mon–Fri from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

Vaccination resources have been increased, and a walk-in vaccination point will be opened at the Hatanpää laboratory (Hatanpäänkatu 24) on 20 July, where you can get vaccinated without an appointment. The walk-in vaccination point in Hatanpää will primarily be aimed at people aged 70–79 who wish to have their fourth dose of the vaccine and do not belong to a medical risk group. You can check the walk-in point’s opening hours on the COVID-19 vaccinations page.

As the vaccination coverage increases, in August, vaccinations will also be available for people aged 18–69 belonging to medical risk groups and then for people aged 60–69 who do not belong to medical risk groups, in accordance with the recommendation of the National Institute for Health and Welfare.

Fourth doses of the vaccine have already been recommended to persons aged 70–79 belonging to risk groups, persons who are severely immunocompromised, persons living in nursing homes for the elderly, all persons aged 80 and older and persons aged 70 and older who are in home care or informal care or cannot manage at home without aid.
