Tampere will celebrate its 237th birthday with various events on Friday 30 September, Saturday 1 October and Sunday 2 October. During the Tampere Day ("Tampereen päivä") weekend, the City of Tampere and various communities, associations and clubs will exhibit their activities all around the city.
The 35th annual Tampere Jazz Happening will take place from November 3rd to 6th, 2016, when audiences will be treated to concerts by some of the most innovative musicians in modern jazz. Altogether 24 ensembles – 8 of which are Finnish – will play on the stages during the festival.
You are warmly invited to attend an info session dedicated to parents and families who have two or more languages. The session takes place on Wednesday 21.9.2016 at 6pm - 7.30pm at Monitoimitalo 13 (Satakunnankatu 13).
The City of Tampere will arrange an internal "Sustainable Ageing in Future Europe – SAFE" project invitation seminar on 15–16 September 2016. The focus of the project is on developing future home care and living at home. The special theme of the event to be arranged in Tampere is the customer guidance of senior citizens. There will be seminar participants from Sweden, Italy and the Netherlands.
The City of Tampere is urgently arranging places for more than 60 children in its day care centres located in the city centre area. The children are moving to day care organised by the City from a private day care centre as the Regional State Administrative Agency for Western and Inland Finland decided to order the operations of the private day care centre to be suspended starting from Monday, 5 September 2016.
Tampere’s Koilliskeskus, located next to the Prisma in Linnainmaa, has been completed. Starting Monday, 12 September 2016, Koilliskeskus will provide library services and youth services, maternity and child health clinic services, home services for families with children and increasingly diverse advisory services. During the autumn, the centre will furthermore begin providing what are referred to as mobile services. These include housing advice for young people and advice on social services for adults.
