The Tampere Art Museum will open the world’s first and only Moomin Museum in Tampere Hall on 17 June 2017. The new museum will explore the world of the Moomin books created by author and artist Tove Jansson (1914–2001) in a completely new, experience-based way. Tove Jansson’s original illustration drawings and paintings provide the basis for the museum, together with three-dimensional Moomin dioramas that Jansson created together with her life partner, graphic artist Tuulikki Pietilä (1917–2009).
The City of Tampere acted according to the effective legislation and the guidance of the Regional State Administrative Agency for Western and Inland Finland in the case regarding the private ABC Päiväkoti day care in 2011 when the city was notified of a conviction of the private entrepreneur, states the City of Tampere’s internal audit report. However, the city failed in controlling the day care’s operations.

All the maternity health clinics and the ultrasound test unit of the City of Tampere will switch to electronic maternity cards for prenatal care over the course of the spring. New customers at maternity health clinics will receive an electronic maternity card starting this March.

The City of Tampere is included in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health’s key project that aims to create services that are based on customer needs through a pilot project on freedom of choice. In Tampere, the pilot will cover health centre services and social guidance.
To support discussion on equality and to celebrate Finland’s 100 years of independence, the Finnish Government will establish an international prize for gender equality. The launch of the prize was made by Prime Minister Juha Sipilä at the equality festival at Tampere Hall in Tampere, Finland, on International Women's Day March 8th.
