Waltteri Torikka and Diandra are the stars of the Finnish Independence Day Celebration festivities in Tampere. The celebration takes place at the Frenckell square Friday 6 December from 5 pm to 5.30 pm.
The City of Tampere will implement a number of actions that promote equality under the “Tampere. Equally yours” theme. The first actions to be published promote the equality of children and young people, as well as the equality of event activities. Equality has also been chosen as the leading theme in the City’s application for the European Capital of Culture.
The National Parade on the Finnish Independence Day will contribute to changes affecting traffic control, parking and public transportation in Tampere from 5 to 6 December 2019. The majority of the equipment will arrive in Tampere on 5 December, whereas on 6 December the return transfers back to home garrisons may cause traffic congestion in Tampere and its vicinity.
What can cities, municipalities and people working in the cultural sector do to improve equality? 3rd of December we are trying to answer that question in an international seminar titled Hän - Equality, culture and women.
Most of the Tramway Alliance’s track work, as well as street and civil engineering work, will be completed by the end of this year. The track has been built even faster than planned, and track work is ahead of schedule. Three quarters of the whole project is now completed and the project is progressing on schedule and on budget.
The second phase of the Viinikanlahti International urban ideas competition in Tampere started on 14 November 2019. Of the total of 57 competition entries submitted in the second phase, the jury selected six for the second phase. The pseudonyms of these entries are “Divercity”, “Lakes&Roses”, “SoBa”, “Pärske”, “Greenikka” and “Natural Alliance”. The jury will publish the winner and other prize-winning competition entries in April 2020.
This year’s national independence day 6.12. parade will be organised in Tampere. The review of troops will take place at Tampere Stadium in Ratina and the pass-in-review on Tampereen valtatie. The venue will also include familiarisation with a versatile equipment display of the Finnish Defence Forces in Ratinanniemi.
