In her exhibition at the Studio of Culture House Laikku the artist Tiitu Takalo shares light on her personal experience of suddenly falling severely ill. She deals with themes of the momentary and finite nature of life as well as the passing of all things through her graphic novel artwork and other artistic means. Free admission.

The traditional Festival of Light will shine light into the darkest time of the year in Tampere. The familiar light fixtures from earlier Festivals of Light will be joined by new and surprising light work, starting from October 29th 2021 for the 56th Tampere Festival of Light. The lights will illuminate the city centre until March 13th 2022. The Festival of Light’s opening ceremony will take place on October 29th at 7 pm in Koskipuisto Park.
A COVID-19 vaccination team will be travelling around Tampere in October. COVID-19 vaccinations are available without an appointment at the pop-up points and from the vaccination bus, which, in the coming weeks, will park in front of shopping centres, university campuses and even Hakametsä Ice Stadium.
The City of Tampere will renew and harmonise its e-invoicing. Invoicing practices related to e-invoices and direct payments will change on 20 October 2021, and this change requires measures from the customers. In the future, the customer only needs to make one agreement for receiving invoices from the city. The new agreement will cover all the services invoiced by the city, with the exception of invoices sent by Tampere Water.

Every Tampere Day, the City of Tampere traditionally bestows an award on distinguished individuals whose life’s work or activities have contributed to the development of the city and the well-being of its residents. This year, to celebrate the city’s 242nd anniversary, the jury decided to present two awards: one to the comedy crew Kummeli and another to Honorary Counsellor of Higher Education Markku Lahtinen. Both of the winners reflect Tampere as a city of high competence and great opportunities but also as a living city full of joy and humour.
The 40th international Tampere Jazz Happening will be organized at the Tullikamari's Pakkahuone, Klubi, as well as restaurant Telakka venues between 4th and 7th November, 2021. During four days, altogether 22 ensembles will perform at the festival, including the winner of this year's Yrjö Award, who will be performing in conjunction with the award ceremony that takes place at the festival. This anniversary year's festival program includes artists such as John Scofield & Dave Holland, Lakecia Benjamin, and Pepe Willberg & Jukka Eskola Statement.
