Tampere Day will be celebrated from 1 October to 3 October – event weekend programme
Tampere Day will be celebrated from 1 October to 3 October 2021. As usual, the city will be filled to the brim with culture, art and events with open access to everyone on the weekend of the event. This year, Tampere celebrates its 242nd anniversary.
The Tampere Day festivities will begin on the official founding date of Tampere, 1 October, which is when the City of Tampere traditionally bestows an award on distinguished Tampere residents whose life’s work or activities have contributed to the development of the city and the well-being of its residents.
There are many interesting places that you can freely visit on the Tampere Day event weekend from 1 October to 3 October.
On Tampere Day, you can go on a Näsijärvi cruise or participate in a mini retreat, for example.
Tampere Day is also a good day for a museum tour. Many museums offer admission at a discounted fee and organise additional programming for visitors.
There will be lots to do and see for children as well. For example, small children can participate in a story-time session, see a puppet theatre performance or go cruising around in the Traffic Park. Shopping Center Ratina also offers diverse activities for children.
On Tampere Day, it is possible to embark on an adventure into the future on the free My2050 mobile game. The journey starts on Tampere Central Square and you only need your phone and 60 minutes of your time for the adventure. In the My2050 game, you get to experience a future shaped by climate change. The My2050 game is suitable for children in secondary school, students, groups of friends or co-workers and families alike.
