Tampere has lots of open appointments for coronavirus vaccination – schedules and locations are changing

Published 29.7.2021 16.25

Coronavirus vaccinations are progressing at a good pace in all age groups in Tampere, but many are still unvaccinated. Approximately ten thousand people under the age of 40 are still not protected. There are lots of appointments available for coronavirus vaccination in both the Ratina and the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre (Messukeskus) vaccination unit. You can also get your vaccine without an appointment. We recommend making an appointment online.

Check the vaccination location in advance on the city's website at www.tampere.fi/covid19vaccinations, as opening hours and vaccination locations will change in August.

Book a vaccination appointment by calling +358 (0)3 5657 0023 (every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.). Or make an appointment online at the vaccination unit in Ratina or in Messukeskus on the city's website at www.tampere.fi/covid19vaccinations. Identification is required. Select English as the language.

People in Tampere can also get a coronavirus vaccine without an appointment (walk in) either at Ratina (first shot) or at Messukeskus (first and second shots).

The Ratina walk-in vaccine line is only meant for people getting their first shot. The walk in line is open from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. For those who have made an appointment, the Ratina vaccination line is open until 6 August from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

You can get both your first and second shot at Messukeskus without an appointment. You can get a walk-in vaccination in Messukeskus without an appointment until 6 August from Monday to Friday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Starting on 9 August, the opening hours will be extended, and the walk-in vaccination line will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. For those who have made an appointment on or after 9 August, the vaccination line will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Mondays and Fridays are the busiest days

Tampere has lots of open appointments for coronavirus vaccinations, especially in the Messukeskus vaccination unit. If you make an appointment in advance, you can easily find a time that suits you. Both Ratina and Messukeskus tend to be very busy on Mondays and Fridays.

The COVID-19 vaccine is available to all Tampere residents over the age of 16 and members of risk groups over the age of 12. An identity card, driving license, passport or Kela card are required. EU citizens can use the blue European Health Insurance Card.

Remember your booster shot

To be fully vaccinated, you need two injections. You will receive your appointment time for your booster shot during your first vaccination.

The recommended dosing interval for the booster shot is 12 weeks, but Tampere residents may get their second shot 8 weeks after the first. If you would like to get your second shot earlier, you need to go to the Messukeskus walk-in vaccination line.
