The Secretary of the Central Municipal Election Board Juha Perämaa says that the recount of the municipal election votes was completed on Monday and will not be continued unless there is a special reason to do so.

- Following a recount, there will always be some changes to the election night’s results because election boards are instructed to place unclear ballots in a group of ballots that are proposed to be invalidated. The Central Municipal Election Board makes the final decisions about these ballots during a recount. There were no changes related to councillors elected on the basis of the election night’s results following the recount, says Perämaa.

The result of the municipal election will be confirmed at the Central Municipal Election Board’s meeting on Wednesday, 16 June 2021, starting at 4 p.m. The new City Council will start work on 1 August 2021.
