Published 19.2.2021 12.53

Coronavirus vaccinations for people turning 80 this year, i.e. those born in 1941 or earlier, are to begin in Tampere. Vaccinations will be given at the city’s health centres by appointment. Caregivers who live in the same household as a person over 80 years of age with a decision on support for informal care will also be given the vaccination, as well as people over 70 who live in the same household.

The City of Tampere will invite the elderly to have the jab either by phone or letter. The first to get the call will be people over 90 years of age. After that, the city will contact younger people without a booked vaccination appointment in descending age order.

If you want to book an appointment yourself, you can book an appointment either online (in Finnish) or by calling your own health centre or the health care counselling service, tel. 03 5657 0023 (open daily from 7.00 am to 10.00 pm).

The vaccines are delivered in small batches, so the availability of vaccination times is limited at first, but new times will become available as more vaccines are received.
