The City of Tampere’s upper secondary schools and the Tampere Vocational College Tredu will continue remote teaching until the end of the spring semester, 30 May 2020. The city’s Vitality and Competitiveness Committee decided on the matter on 22 April 2020.

There are valid grounds for continuing remote teaching until the end of the spring semester. For example, in upper secondary education, teaching during the fifth period at the end of the semester is planned to be organised remotely. Re-opening the educational institutions after 13 May would mean that there would only be one week left of studying in addition to the final period.

At the Tampere Vocational College Tredu, it has also been deemed appropriate to continue remote teaching until the end of the spring semester. Remote teaching is organised in such a manner that the studies of graduating students are not endangered. If necessary, it also possible to arrange proficiency tests in the educational institution’s facilities by making some special arrangements. Tredu will separately inform its students about summer studies regarding both beginning and continuing studies.

– The committee is pleased and has confidence in that teaching can be organised remotely until the end of the spring semester. In the future, attention must be paid to ensuring that all students receive the required support during distance learning, says the Deputy Mayor Jaakko Stenhäll.

In the upper secondary education of the City of Tampere, remote teaching began on Monday 16 March and in Tredu on Tuesday 17 March 2020. The national restrictions regarding education imposed by the Government are in force until 13 May 2020.
